SIR BRIT’s purpose is the education and promotion of British made cars and motorcycles to its members and the public.

The Michiana Brits British car enthusiasts club invites you to join them at their Michiana Brits 25th Annual British Car Show. This highly popular all-marque show is on the beautiful campus of Saint Mary’s College on the north side of South Bend, IN, across the street from the University of Notre Dame. The featured marque is the Jaguar XKE Series I, II & III. Judging will be by popular vote, with awards given for each class and Best in Show. The entry fee is $20 per vehicle, and for club members who have their Michiana Brits membership affiliated with their NAMGBR membership, the fee is $10 per vehicle. Vehicles may arrive after 8:30 AM, judging from 11 AM – 2 PM, awards at 3 PM. Goody bags and collector show pins for the first 100 cars. Concrete ramp for ingress/egress to the show field, and newly expanded food sales in the air-conditioned club house (rain or shine!) by Saint Mary’s College. Open to the general public 10 AM – 3 PM, free admission, club house restrooms. Bring a can of food for our “Help Michiana Brits Drive Out Hunger” donation to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana.

Entrants may register at the show or pre-register at the Michiana Brits website, www.michianabrits.com

Voting by popular vote. Dash plaques to the first 200 registered, goody bags, and lots of door prizes. Pre-registration is $12.00, day of show is $15.00.

2012 Cavalcade of Customs Cincinnati

The British have landed again for another great year at the Cincinnati Cavalcade of Customs.  The show is over and our small group had a great time.  There were some great cars this year.  Many custom stereo cars and custom paint jobs.

Looking back over the past years there were less truly “custom” cars.  I gotthe unique opportunities to talk with Bob Larivee.  He built many of truly custom cars of the seventies like the Red Baron.  These were truly on off custom cars.  Of course this isn’t to say that the 22 inch spinners and wild paint isn’t cool. It certainly is.  But I think we can agree that the folks with the imagination and ability to dream up an idea like the Dream Rod and sit down with some square tubing, sheet metal, and some fiberglass and build it are amazing!

Several of us got to meet Ken Schrader.  So who is Ken Schrader?  Ken Schrader is the ‘consummate race car driver – he can drive anything with wheels’!  He holds records with USAC, ARCA, NASCAR and several on the dirt track too.  He owns a race team and is a commentator on SPEED, and ESPN.  And to top it off he owns three dirt tracks!  What do you think Ken, want to join the BCCGC and host an event?  I know a few folks willing to show up for that night of pizza and flat soft drinks!

We had 10 cars at this year’s show and received 10 plaques.  Over all not to bad for some daily driven, oil dripping, Brittish run abouts.  Maybe next year we can get a few more braving the cold to bring out the Union Jacks.
